Gucci Changemakers, Design In the City Awardee.

Six translucent handbags made from byproducts of the meatpacking industry are the center point of this work. A multi-level composition of mirrored pedestals provides a point of reflection: a study of one's self. Atop each pedestal, a clear box containing soil and fresh, overgrown grass reveals the layers of ecology beneath each bag. A soundscape of disrupted nature plays alongside a photographic backdrop of models stripped down to bare skin, each carrying multiple handbags. The entire combination serves as a point of reflection, questioning sustainability, while provoking curiosity about where things actually come from, how they are made, and in the end, how this affects our existence.
